Inflation Trends and Economic Outlook

The Ministry of Finance projects that consumer inflation will remain stable in February, continuing its downward trajectory compared to the previous year. The anticipated inflation rate is between 2.0% and 3.0% for the month, with a slight increase to 3.0%-4.0% expected in March 2025. In January, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 2.4%, a significant decrease from 24% in the same period last year. This decline is attributed to economic stabilization under a $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) secured from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last summer. An IMF mission is scheduled to visit Islamabad next week for the first review of this program.

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission is set to arrive in Pakistan next week for the first review of the country's $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) bailout program. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that Pakistan's economy has stabilized and is now focusing on export-led growth. The IMF team will spend approximately two weeks reviewing fiscal reforms and policies. Additionally, discussions will include around $1 billion in climate financing under the IMF's Resilience and Sustainability Trust, aimed at supporting long-term concessional funding for climate-related projects. 

Champions Trophy 2025: Cricket Updates
