Jharkhand’s first phase of Assembly elections is set for tomorrow, November 13, 2024

Jharkhand’s first phase of Assembly elections is set for tomorrow, November 13, 2024, covering 43 of the state’s 81 constituencies across 15 districts. Around 13.7 million eligible voters will decide the fate of 683 candidates running in this phase. Security measures are robust, with over 200 companies of security forces, including local and paramilitary personnel, deployed to safeguard polling stations and maintain order. Key sensitive areas, such as West Singhbhum and Garhwa, are receiving special attention, with polling officials being transported by helicopter to remote booths for better security management.

The state government has worked to distribute voter slips widely, although reports indicate that some voters have yet to receive them. Ensuring that these slips reach all registered voters remains essential for a smooth and inclusive voting process. Officials have also set up webcasting and live monitoring at various booths to maintain transparency, while women and differently-abled individuals are managing specific polling stations to enhance accessibility and representation.

Voting will occur from 7 AM to 5 PM, with an earlier closing time of 4 PM at certain booths for security reasons. Voters present in line before the cutoff will still be allowed to vote, emphasizing the Election Commission's commitment to ensuring every voter has a chance to participate.
